A table of the topics covered since the current GCSE started. I made it to see if I could predict the writing questions for this year’s exam. You might like to also see if you can work out what the students will be asked!

Two worksheets aimed at beginner year 7 French on the topic of family and introducing the vocab for family members. The grammar focus is on mon/ma and j’ai to form sentences. There are optional challenge questions but the idea would be that students could complete this work independently and without too much support. It would be good for homeowrk, to send home to complete or for when you need a quiet 20 minutes in class for whatever reason! I have aimed this a middle ability set. The first sheet is to build up from single items of vocab (family members) to sentences then on to a short paragraph. The idea is they will make fewer mistakes with writing as it is very scaffolded. The second sheet is reading comprehension with the aim of them being able to use the reading to help them write their own piece using ideas taken from the examples they read.

IWB used to redo the present tense with KS4 who have forgotten it - back to basics!

Sentence builder to make short but correct (!) sentences about having animals/pets. Uses all of avoir in the present tense plus negative and j’avais. I made this for my year 7 lower ability to do as an independent task. They are asked to write about their own pets at the end.

I think the 2023 Higher paper will have a question about Customs and Festivals in the 150 words section, based on looking at which topics they have asked in recent years. Students see what an answer might look like then use my examples to write their own version Answer given

I started using a commercial resource to teach No et Moi but it was taking too long to get through the book so recently I have made some worksheets to go with each chapter, a summary in English and specific work on a paragraph or two, sometimes a link to a textivate, sometimes some questions I do as a sort of running comprehension, sometimes translation or summary to help with paper 1. Anyway they may be useful to someone else who is having to hurry up a bit. Enjoy
